The telecom module counts network observations imported from OpenCelliD (CC BY-SA 4.0). It is a density indicator, not a real-time spectrum audit.
When the module runs
If your 5G / telecom sensitivity slider sits at 0 km, we skip the HTTP work entirely so passive users are not penalised. As soon as you choose a positive radius, we count towers whose coordinates fall inside the disk and surface the nearest distance in the modal.
Radio technologies in the file
Country exports mix GSM, UMTS, LTE, and legacy CDMA rows. Newer NR rows appear when contributors upload them. The crawler configuration can restrict radios to match your editorial policy.

Schedule cron/crawl_opencellid_cell_towers.php with a personal
API token, respect the two-downloads-per-day fair-use limit per file, and keep
the on-map attribution snippet required by the licence.
